Summer Cottage is situated in the charming village of Allithwaite, There is a Post Office and general store, children's playground, tennis court, bowling green and football pitch and also two excellent pub/restaurants only 200 yards way.
Only 5 minutes away is Cartmel village, Home of the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding, with its impressive ancient Priory, picturesque town square and race course. It has many charming pubs, shops and restaurants including L’enclume and Rogan’s Bar.
Grange over Sands is also only 5 minutes away, with its beautiful promenade, ornamental water gardens and shops. These include the award winning Higginson’s butchers and the Hazlemere cafe (which makes vanilla slices to die for)
Just outside Grange is the Ice Cream Farm, with calves, piglets, chicks and lambs to pet, a cafe with delicious home made ice cream, and a wonderful children's play area.
There are several golf courses nearby, two in Grange over Sands.

We are in a fantastic location for walking , climbing and cycling: there’s the whole of the Lake District on your doorstep! About a mile away are the Cumbrian Coastal Path, the Cistercian Way (Both superb walking paths), and the Cumbrian Cycle route. Grizedale Forest which has superb way marked mountain bike trails and walking trails
is just a few miles north.
Many major Cumbrian visitor attractions are only a 10 minutes away:The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway takes you to the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruise Ships, which travel the full 12 miles of the lake. Also 10 minutes away are Levens Hall's world famous topiary garden, the largest in the world!
Sizergh Castle's impresive gardens, and low Sizergh barn farm shop, where you can watch the cows being milked from the cafe.
Holker Hall, with its majestic gardens; home to summer concerts, excellent restaurant and food hall.
30 Minutes away is the famous South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top home, Coniston village
The local fishing is excellent, with coarse, game and sea angling catered for, and we have two tickets for WADAA waters. The Tackle shop in nearby Grange-over-Sands is well stocked and very helpful.
