Holker Hall

The Hall, Gardens and Lakeland Motor Museum are three spectacular attractions in one perfect setting. But that is not all. Holker Hall also boasts the delightful Courtyard Café, Gift Shop with many items personally selected by Lady Cavendish and the newly opened Food Hall at Holker Hall, a distinctly Cumbrian entity offering a range of Estate and bespoke produce, sure to tempt all tastes.

L'Enclume

A ‘Gastronomic Restaurant with rooms’ - the home of Simon Rogan's bold and inventive cuisine. Situated in the historic village of Cartmel, L'Enclume is set amongst the beautiful sights and attractions of South Lakeland.

We hold 2 visitors’ day permits for many of the Lakes in the area courtesy of WADAA , and also are pleased to be associated with Alan Scott of Solway Sea Angling Trips out of Workington and Ravenglass about an hour’s drive away.

The Topiary Gardens at Levens Hall

World-famous in their own right, they are a must for any visitor to the English Lake District. When Col. Grahme came back to Levens in 1688 upon the abdication of the King, he brought with him the gardener Monsieur Guillaume Beaumont, who had been trained under Le Nôtre at Versailles and who had laid out the gardens at Hampton Court. He started work in 1694 creating the design for the garden you can see today. Since that time no owner wished to make changes - as so many others did, and so you can see a design which has remained unchanged for over 300 years.

Beatrix Potter's house, only 20 minutes away from Summer Cottage, and inspiration for many of her tales, Hill Top remains as she left it. Each room contains something that appeared in her books. Beatrix valued the house and its contents highly and when she died she left Hill Top to the National Trust, to open it to the public, on the condition that the house was kept with all her belongings in place. The house has been open to visitors for the last 60 years, so enthusiasts can learn more about the 'real' Miss Potter by visiting her beloved Hill Top.

Cartmel Racecourse

Based in the south of the Lake District, within the pretty village of Cartmel. Horse racing has taken part on the famous racecourse since 1845. Race days at Cartmel are still the biggest gatherings of the whole National Hunt season.
